GTA Out of Status Construction Worker Get more 500 places to Become PR Directly


In 2019, the Canadian government started a temporary public policy to allow out of status construction workers to get permanent residence in the Greater Toronto Area, for regional labour market needs. From the beginning, it was opened for 500 applicants, and from this year 2023, another 500 is doubled to the policy, and it opens until January 2, 2024.


This temporary immigration pathway is simple and easy to meet the requirements, not language proficiency required, spouse and children can be included in the application.


Requirements:

  • Was a legal temporary resident when entering Canada, but now has no status.

  • Have lived in Canada for at least 5 years, and now still live in Canada.

  • At least 3 years work experience in these 5 years, and the job meets the required occupation groups.

  • Job is approved by the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) referral.

  • Have direct family member in Canada, or extended family member is Canadian citizens/permanent resident.


Available occupation groups:


NOC 2021 Major group 72, 73, 75.


Example jobs: construction contractors/supervisor, Concrete finishers, Roofers, Painters and decorators, Floor covering installers, Plasters, Drillers and blasters, Plumbers, Boilermakers, Carpenters, Cabinetmakers, Heat and A/C mechanics, Auto mechanics, Electrical mechanics…etc.


The key for this program is, first, the job and work experience meet the listed category, and has 3 years experience; second, have direct family member lives in Canada, or Extended family member is Citizen/permanent residence in Canada. Extended family can be grandparents, grandchildren, sister/brother, cousin, uncle/aunt, nephew/niece.


Another key for this program is to obtain a referral from CLC, now this CLC application is open for apply but has a waiting list. Applicants have better to apply as soon as possible to avoid extra waiting.
